Argus II: A New Generation

A huge advance in the mission to cure blindness, the Argus II is a device that can improve the vision of people who suffer from retinitis pigmentosa. It was created by California-based company Second Sight, and approved for use in the US in February 2013, becoming the first commercial visual prosthesis to do so.

Currently, it can improve sight marginally, in the best-case-scenario it allows the blind to read large print books. But this is only the beginning. As the science gets better, so will the effectiveness of the Argus II. Learn more from Second Sight.
